A minimalist bedroom is not the same as an “empty” one. Despite the lack of excessive flair, your room still needs to provide basic functions and decorative elements. When trying to create a minimalist room, you must start from the essential items. Make sure to place this stuff in your room before expanding the decoration.
1. Platform Bed
A platform bed is an ideal type for a minimalist bedroom. It offers various benefits such as keeping you safe from floor critters and reducing dust accumulation. A high platform bed also provides extra storage space under it. You can shove several storage boxes or even rolling drawers.
2. Proper Numbers of Chairs
A minimalist room has the right amount of furniture items. When it comes to chairs, you must calculate the type of people who use it (and how many). A work seat and one or two armchairs for relaxing are the standard numbers. You can replace the armchairs with a long bench or cot.
3. Two Lighting Fixtures
A minimalist room must have at least two lighting fixtures. One is the main lamp to illuminate the entire room, while the other is a smaller functional light. You should choose lamps with restrained, clean-lined designs to match with the minimalist theme.
4. Closet with Multiple Storage Spaces
You must declutter the room and store your stuff smartly to get the minimalist look. Make sure to have an adequate closet for your daily storage needs. You should also look inside the closet to see the type of storage it has. A good closet should have efficient storage spaces, such as a hanging bar, top shelves, and multiple drawers.
5. Simple, Clean-Lined Accents
All the smaller accents in your bedroom should have clean design lines and simple features. Scandinavian-style bedside table, curtains, rug, and shelves, such as from IKEA, often have simple aesthetics that match your minimalist room.
Create your dream minimalist bedroom by starting from basic must-have items. Make sure to create a seamless, corresponding look with them.
